Absences

One excused absence is allowed per month. All additional absences will be billed to your account. Excused absences are as noted.

  • You must give 24 hours notice if you will be absent from your lesson. You may notify me by phone, text, or email.
  • Notice of student illness on the day of lesson will be considered excused once per month.
  • Irregular attendance or a pattern of absences may result in the loss of your permanent spot.
  • If you need to go off the schedule for a time, I will try to get you back on when you are ready. As I am very full, I cannot guarantee there will be an opening that works for you.
  • Likewise, I will try to move you to a different spot during a week where you have a known conflict. However, as I have very few openings, I cannot guarantee make up lessons will be a possibility.
  • If you know this policy is not workable with your schedule, you may change to call in status. This is where you may schedule a lesson without a weekly time slot. There is no guarantee that there will be time available, but you would be welcome to schedule when there is an opening.
  • If I cancel due to illness or vacation it will not be considered an absence by you. If you have prepaid the lesson you will receive credit for my absence.

Payment

  • Payment is due at the beginning of the month or at each lesson, whichever works into your budget best.
  • Payment will be made by cash or check. I do not accept credit cards at this point. If this changes I will notify you.

Lesson Materials

  • Any books or music needed will need to be purchased by you. I make copies as much as possible to keep costs down, but study books will need to be purchased.
  • Any original music borrowed for Solo & Ensemble or any other reason must be returned promptly and in the same condition it was borrowed. If lost or damaged (other than normal wear) you will need to replace it as soon as possible.
  • Instruments should be serviced occasionally to be sure they are in good working order. Ask me about qualified service technicians!

Recitals

Recitals will be scheduled once or twice per year. Participation is strongly encouraged but not mandatory. Playing in front of people can be scary but the benefits of performing are endless!
